Just checked with C328 and Uncle said there's only Dennerle with grey sand.

    Is this true?

I'm looking for the cheaper ones.

Wilson, what is the grey sand for? For planting or as inert decorative purpose?

If that's the case, then only know of Dennerle which is inert.

If it is for planting, Seachem Onyx sand is grey in colour, but it buffers the water slightly on the alkaline side.

But still looking for cheaper ones. Like those unbranded packs of sand C328 carries.

By the way, is Seachem Onyx sand dark grey or light grey?

Found out that there are 2 types available. Seachem Onyx sand and Seachem Onyx gravel.

Is Seachem Onyx gravel available commonly in lfs?

    Thanks.

It looks dark grey from the picture, but under lighting it looks light grey. Do note that the sand is not of even sizes though.

NA has them, they stock various types of Seachem substrates. Used to see them in C328, but don't see them often these days, probably because they aren't the most popular brand.

uklau's tank using Onyx, the first few pictures look dark, but the later pictures are more indicative of the real colour, http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=32448

I think this is the substrate I'm looking for.

    Many many thanks Quixotic.
