    Hi all,

Got this idea of having one tank, with two compartment, keeping two different type of shrimps in each compartment, and using the overflow / waterfall water tank to keep the whole tank system going. It will be power by only one canister. I will have the tank customise. Something like the type of waterfall tank you see at SOON HENG FISH TANKS MANUFACTURERS.
Please advise if this of type setup or system is possible?

erhmm, pardon me commenting this but if the idea is to have separate compartments for different kinds of shrimp
won't using a single 2ft tank and compartmentalise it with fine mesh be easier?

The most of waste will be deposited at the upper tank. Just my 2 cents worth of thoughts.

Maybe a opening at the bottom/mid may helps.

Hi dnsfpl, Thanks! Your drawing is more like what i wanted.

There are a few reason why i want to have this type of tank.
The Main reason is there not enough space for one more tank.
And if i put the two different shrimps together, it will cross breed.
People might think why not have two smaller tank
because of space, i cant have one more canister, and also to make full use of my current canister

Reason why i dont want to add a big mesh as there might be a chance that the shimplets might somehow go over the other compartment. maybe..?

well depend on what shrimps you like to keep. not all of them will cross breed. Just choose carefully

sponge or mesh will clog up with gunk eventually. Be sure to clear them regularly or your tank will really overflow.

    Underflow is a safer bet.

Inmates from the first tank will migrate over to the second tank.

    Hi CrayonBoi,

I bought a tank from Soon Heng recently.

Here is a pic of it :

Nice concept to able to keep 2 different breeds of fishes / shrimps in "1 tank / aquarium" that share the same canister / filtration system. But it is actually a lot tougher than you think.

I have not really been very successful with this tank setup. I have quite a few unusual tanks and I must say that this is by far 1 of the most challenging one. On paper, the technical design & setup works; but in real life, that is another story... I am still in the midst of finding the PERFECT SETUP for this WATERFALL CONCEPT.

Good luck to you WATERFALL tank design! I lived in the East, if you want to, feel free to contact me, I can show you my tank lah!
