Growing Eleocharis parvula

Ok, so i bought some a month back. Now i was unsure how to plant so i decided to try three different methods when i planted my stock. The three methods were; deep planting, normal and 'barely' planted. If that makes sense Don't know what to say other than three depths of planting basically.

Deep planting is showing signs of dying off, stock in these areas is getting smaller although some new shoots can be seen, very small though. Bottoms of the plants that are deep turn white and i'm thinking there dieing off, unlike shallow planted which are green to the roots which are white.

Normal depth planting is showing some signs of new growth too, again small and the problem with this is its being uprooted quite a bit and its not 'spreading' beyond the parent plant.

stupidly shallow planting is showing good growth, lots of new shoots but its being uprooted constantly. Replanting seems to not do it too many favours either and i then end up planting it deeper and the cycle continues.

Now some may be aware of my thread "180 Litre Rescape" which i constantly mention my 'loach' which dig, well these have since been removed along with 1 of my 2 BNP and transfered to my 65 litre goldfish tank My goldfish are petrified of them haha. So theres nothing in my tank that 'digs' now and i'm still having trouble getting it to spread successfully, or even root in properly. They all have good root systems but there not going deep enough to gain a good hold and spread.

Wondered how others fair with E. Parvula or other HG and how deep you plant yours?

if i am able to do it again, i will do it emmerse form. Getting them to spread by trimming is a good way, and it has worked for me but i have not experience the same density as some here with low tech and 0 fert regime.

You've mentioned them being uprooted constantly.. why is that?

I'm guessing my SAE and Bristlenose Plecs at night get a little 'vigorous' when scavenging for food and knock a few out. Plus the new shoots that form all seem to form above the substrate, all three methods of planting seem to do this. Maybe its my substrate size. Its about 7mm thick grain size.

I trimmed mine all about week and half ago, new shoots have appeared. But its slow going and not at all substantial enough. I actually think its dieing quicker than it is growing currently.

have to separate or forgo having either sae or plecs. Even my nerite snail have a habit of burrowing into my soil uprooting the HG initially.

Given two weeks time i should have one or both of my 1ft cubes to place them in as alternate homes.
