You must see which pair of apisto you're thinking of letting it co-habit with. Not all apisto got the same behavior & aggression. Do take note of size & character. Keeping them alive might not be a problem but sharing 2 pairs of dwarf cichlids together in a small 2ft for breeding is not ideal.
If you need more information please let us know your pairs too. Apisto has got a huge list.

Hi bro Benetay,
I have a Apistogramma Agassii Net (wild). Brought from Biotope. Actually the pair had spawned about 2-3 weeks ago. Now the fries are about 3mm big.
In your opinion, is it possible to house this pair of Apistogramma with another Dicrossus filamentosus pair?? Or is it possible to get all male Dicrossus filamentosus to house with the Apistogramma pair?? Will they fight??
Bro Magic4lifez,
thanks for your feedbacks.
Cheers.
Congrats on your spawn, aren't you worry the other pair might go for the fries?
...I love rubies too ...

Hi Bro Fei Mao,
I will try to transfer all my fries out after which I give to my friends who are interested in rearing Apisto before I introduce the new friends in.
But I'm more worried about harmony issue between them.
Cheers
Are you planning to breed the Aga again? If so, a community tank is not a great idea. If your Aga do breed again, the female might be stress with the number of companions which might result to death. If you're just keeping for show, remove the females, just leave the males together. Any female might have problems later on.

I have a 4 pair of apisto living together with 2 pairs of Dicrossus, no problems at all but sometimes the dicrossus do chase each other or my apisto miua, but nothing more than that.however, i do agree that some spieces of apisto like miua are quite agressive towards other fishes.so you may not want to put them into your tank together.agassizii is quite ok fish so should be ok.but during spawning you will have to taken the dicrossus out as apisto will attack whoever comes near and your fries should be removed too.just my thoughts.

Thanks bro benetay and Toshika for your advice.

I have kept D. filamentosus with Apistogramma spps many times over the past 4 decades. I usually have some of one or both in planted wild discus aquariums.
I have always provided separate breeding quarters. That is just good sense if breeding is your primary goal. Dicrossus filamentosus are very easy to spawn but getting a female that provides good brood care takes luck but is always the most likely way to end up with very many surviving fry. Very hard to find that good mother D. filamentosus. Most just as soon eat their eggs.
