    My pair is still surviving.

    Took a chance on one fry from biotope, chose the most female looking one and it turned out to be female!

    The male I got from Apistoworld HK doesn't have a full red tail, maybe only about 60-70% is red.

    I believe that the tail colouration is fully developed at a young age as my male still does not have any increase in the amount of red on its tail.

    Sadly, the female is growing really slowly, don't know how to speed up its growth.

    This was the male I used to own very red tail and high fin, but some have commented that he's a little "hunchbacked" (though it may just have been the angle/him flicking his tail at the reflection)
