    I got 2 nerites

    looks similar to this: http://www.snailshop.co.uk/p/286784/...te-snail-.html

1 of them was moved to a 1 ft shrimp tank with 1 guppy.

Except for the 1st day when both were happily grazing, they have been in their shell for almost 2 weeks.

Is that their normal behaviour when they are stressed out?

How long will they survive without eating? They have been at the same spot for days.

Its been a couple days. Have your snails moved yet? If not, I suggest you check if they're still alive.

    Hi Helicraz,

Same experience for me . . . ALL SNAILS don't survive in my tank . .. but the OTTOS are doing fine. Not sure what is wrong with my tank though, temp is about 26C, pH is between 6.5 - 7, all my bettas are well . . .

    Any advice???

    Hi helicraz,

sorry to hear about your nerite snails' demise... Did you acclimate them to your tank before you introduce them in? [Some may think that snails don't need to be acclimated into the new tanks like other fanuas, but I do not agree... Being acclimated properly should ensure they get less 'shock' or stressed up & higher rate of survival...]

They (snails) are really very interesting creatures (some help to aerate the substrate like MTS, some solve algae problems like Ramshorn, some simply are just nice to watch...), hope you don't really give up in trying to keep them...

Currently I'm keeping Ramshorn (Red/ Orange/ Gold - I also not sure lah...) in my tanks; also have those common pond snails as they are very efficient algae clearer & am hoping to try & see if they do cross with Ramshorn - If yes, then their offspring must be damn cute!! ).

    Cheers!!

Hi patennis, sorry but from what I know, generally most snails cannot withstand acidic water conditions as it'll corode their shells (which is their main form of protection out there...). Maybe you'd like to up your pH to 7.0 & try again? [This is purely based on my own personal experience & readings from the Net... I may be wrong... )

    Cheers!!
