hi guys, i bought a 1ft tank (featured in pic) from a fellow forumer from another site. he did mention that the light was faulty but i took the tank cos of the design. this tank has a sump type tank in the rear, 2 fans on the hood and also a 18w pl light. when turned on the fans function and the light flickered awhile and no more. i have not changed the pl light to try cos i dun have one now. i did change the starter but no difference. anyone can advise if the tube is not faulty can the ballast fail too? i may need someone's help to look at it and recommend what i shoud do next. also can i install an e-ballast connecting the fans as how it is connected right now? thanks so much.
Didn't know PL tubes have starters? They don' right?
Anyway, I would suggest that you get a PL tube. Even if through troubleshooting, you come to realized that the tube that came along with the tank is not faulty, you could always keep the tube for use later.

Got the PL light.test and can light up.now in the process of putting it together.later take a few snaps and post.it wun be setup as good as those found here but i'll try my best.... this is the part that gets most aquarist to spend their energy, the setup. guess i'll open another thread to post on the progress. thanks Eric for your reply.
