Commercial MH Lights vs those sold by LFS

I saw 2 unrelated posting of ‘commercial’ MH lights during the past 2 days.

The most recent one that I have read is from the ‘Buy and Sell’ section. Seems like the price is very affordable compared to those ceiling-hung-MH. I also see that attaching the lights to some form of DIY holder can change the position of focus.

Is this type of commercial MH light a viable option?
What problem will I be facing if I go by that route?

    Thanks.

imo, they r almost the same, unless u compare those one piece pendant arcadia.. which will set u back by $1000+.. the one sherwin bought is a simple pendant fixture which looks like the MV from Bioplast

    pause a while where
looks 'like' is the operative phrase
it's like a cylinder whereas the bioplast one is a spherical

hey. sherwin, do you have pics of your pendant + ballast etc.

I checked with bioplast,. their HQL light = 325, I heard one iwasaki mh light tube can match their ballast, but must change the connector?

I'm thinking of getting another one so as to get more even distribution of light.

no pics at the moment... I'll try to take tommorow and post it when I can. But, I request that you don't wait for it cos after tommorrow, I won't be in S'pore maybe till next year or even after CNY.

Iwasaki came out with a daylight bulb 2 months back which is said to be 90+ percent sunlight. It was designed for the plant growers industry. It's not very ex either... cost around $30~40.
    Cheers!!

    hey guys ,

i'm using this cheap version of the pendent type MH lights .... it comes in either 75W or 150W and runs on a normal ballast( not e type ) .... it cost S$160 to get the pendent and ballast ... ( black and white colour pendent to suit your colour scheme ) as for bulbs ... you gotto decide on what your requirements are .... 6500K or 10K or 20 K .... bulbs are double ended ...

lmk if anyone wants to buy (pm)... i thinking of getting another one ...

here is a close up of the lights at the botoom of the tank ... mine is only 2 ft deep

    What's LMK?
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

    mv3i,
from the look of your tank.. the distribution of lights might not be enuff... might want to consider getting another one for your tank..

anyway.. the MH is cheap.. from taiwan?? keep that lobang.[] i'm sure our forumers will benefit from it..
