Windelov Java ferns enjoy cooler water. Otherwise, they may turn black, or take long time to adapt. Try lowering your water temperature , and you should see growth in about 2-3 weeks.

My java fern is turning black. Is this due to an algae? Can someone advise me how to fix this?

My lilies are also showing holes in the leaves. Is this due to nutrient deficiency or fauna action? I have Malayan shrimp, Rosy Barb, Neon Tetras, SAE, Cory and Clown loaches in my tank as well. I have not noticed any snail in my tank.

Hi,
i think holes in the leaves may generally reflect the lack of iron in the plant's nutrients uptake.
Cheers!

Peter is right. It can be poor circulation also, nutrient and CO2 is not distributed to death spot. It happens to my rotala. Below pics shown black portion and degeneration growth of plant tissue.
