Just got a new discus 3 days ago, really find it nice in a planted tank. I always had the urge to faster finish my things so that i can go back and look at him. =)

But he might be a little lonely .

My new baby ( think is leopard discus)

Certainly maybe a little lonely. I'd certainly say perhaps get more, although this would require a 3 ft tank possibly. Which if not possible is a bit sadening. I hate seeing fish kept alone, even other fish arent the same company as another of the same species.

Stunning rocks though i must say. Is that Jap HG or Eleocharis Parvula? And do you know the I.D of that floating tree like plant by any chance. Sorry for questions

    I see rummy-nose too !!!

everyone is trying to ask me to get a few more of it. haha. In fact when i saw it at LFS, this fish is not as nice. The color is lighter, maybe he is not stable in LFS. My tank makes him stable. lol.

thats a normal hair grass by the way. and i'm not sure of the floating plant. Maybe some other bro can help ?

One thing to note on Discuss. They're incredibly finicky about water conditions. If something isnt right, or is slightly off the 'norm' then they'll show you. If it isnt rectified soon, then the rest is kind of obvious.

I'd take readings of as much as possible to find out. Discuss are notorious for needing 100% perfect water conditions 24/7.

    Ya, good qn by route.

I'd read that they need tip top water condition as well. now i'm preparing aged water to change for him. I'd never do that for any of other fishes in my life.

Heater might be needed as well. But i guess in the mean time i'm not putting it in just yet because my plants are in there.

Anyone can help with the IDing of the 2 red plants ?

You got to remember that is a living water stream in the wild, current dont stay there, it kept flowing away.

Singapore weather is always around 26-30+ degree celsius, so is ok to keep discus here, perfect weather for discus fish.

Nice tank, but discus don't like being keep alone. Try get a few more discus, it always look great in plants tank, but too bad I can't have full plants tank for my discus as I have no extra tank to house them temp.

Discus in LFS don't look nice maybe partly is the light effect. Ya experts keep them in plain tanks, but for me, it a 4ft tank, so it will be look awful bare therefore I add my tank with Drifthwood ties with plants and others. You can have a look at my blog.

Cloudy on the eyes show the water condition is not suitiable for the discus. Do take care and make him be more healthy. Clean water create healthy fishes.

Try to get hold of some Sea Chem Prime. Helps to improve your water condition as a stop gap measure. I'm very sure the cloudy eyes will go away as long as your discus continues to eat. once they start to show disinterest in food, then it's really not good.
