Pencilfish: fast or slow flow?

Pencilfish seem like rather docile creatures so the impression they give is that they prefer slower flowing water...however given their streamlined bodies, it does seem that they are adapted to faster flows. Which do they prefer?

Pencilfish prefer slow water. I have golden pencils and they will avoid the filter outlet unlike the rasboras and danios. I would say their preference is similar to tetras.

I have coral red pencilfish, they seem to enjoy the flow in my tank. I would say it is moderate. Love them, gorgeous fish!
