Hi, I am new to aqua planting. Have seen many pictures of nice aquascapes on the internet, but have yet to seen any that flowers. Or does aqua plants flower at all like land plants do? Sorry if I sounded stupid. If they do flower, can anyone suggest some plants that are easy to maintain and flower easily for newbies like me?

There are many aquatic plants that flower, most do so at the surface or just above the water level, if you allow reasonable depth for them to do so and the optimum condition that they thrife well in the tank. Flowering takes quite some investment in energy, and your plants will usually do not do so frequently if they are depleted of sufficient supply of nutrients, lighting quality not to mention as the drive.

Some that are easy to flower and may do so frequently in a normal tank are anubias, echinodorus sp, aponogeton, saggitaria.

hi bro, most or almost all aquatic plants do not flower immersed.
But if grown emersed or semi-emersed, they do flower

Thanks for the information. I'll do a goggle to know more about these plants. As my tank has a canopy, I do not intend to let the plants grow out of the water. Are there really no plants that grow flowers in the water? I saw some posts from fellow AQians of flowering anubias. Are those really flowers?

    Yes They are.
Anubias easily and frequently flowers under water. The foliage may last for weeks.
