How many apistos can ideally be kept in a 6 footer with 3/4 big plecos (10" to 24" size), wild discus, corydoras and maybe some hatchet fish? Are plants a must or will they do well with driftwood hidey places? Any advice is appreciated.

Do you plan to breed the apistos? Or will they just be for show?

Hmmm, then i guess it would depend on how densely planted/how much driftwood there is. The more hiding places there are, the more apistos you can keep. General rule of thumb would be maybe a pair every 2feet, perhaps?

    Hi,
I had kept more then 10 pairs of Apisto in a 4ft planted them without any problem. Some chasing here and there. However, no serious fight at all. Did not observe any of the Apisto feeling stress.

Some of the pairs even breed in the tank. However, they were unable to protect their fries.
