Qian hu fish farm sells some spa fish (not sure whether its Garra rufa or not, though) and has fish spa pools too. Ten bucks for 30 mins, but only feet and lower legs are allowed in the water.

I think these doctor fish help to 'heal' some skin problems such as Eczema when they nibble on such spots and maybe secrete some secret saliva to help alleviate the skin problem.

Otherwise, it just nibbles off dead skin tissues to help your body in exfoliation.

Because they are not fed and have nothing else to eat?

    G. rufa alone does not cure Psoriasis. And the secrete saliva thing (i.e. Dithranol) is nothing but marketing hype. Dithranol is synthetic, so go figure.

    Greetings

Greetings to all. I am happy to have become a member. I understand that there are other effects to be expected from these little fish. They are used in Spa's all through Aisia and Europe for Pedicures, manicures, etc. In pedicures, these little fish take the place of the razorblade that scrapes the callouses. I found a website that has a lot of information on them, and they sell both species of fish mentioned, as well as equipment and even a book on how to set up the spas. the url is http://www.canadianspaimports.com

Real garra rufa are not harmful and will not cause a infection as they are toothless.

Chin chin the fake spa fish, have teeth and they cannot differentiate btw healthy skin and dead skin and will bite at anything. They will cause an infection.

Real garra rufas are known and used for hundreds of years to treat and ease skin related problems.

The only place i know that is selling real garra rufas is Qian Hu.

    Hope this helps.
