    Bros,

Now i have more scractch heads issue.

    1) Should I or should I not spend $$ to get a CO2 setup?
    2) Should I buy brand new or 2nd hand CO2 setup?

How many of you willing to spend on a CO2 setup and any regrets?

Most of the bros here buy a brand new or a 2nd hand setup?

How many of you bought something (2nd hand) and in the end regret for not buying a 2nd hand one?

My greatest worry is buying something that is not worth the penny...

Not paiseh to voice it out... i really need to save from my pocket money in order to buy one.. as most of my money needs to go to my family committment. Thats why I really need to think thrice... hainz...

I've 2 second-hand CO2 sets... 1 of them had been with me for >6yrs and it's still working fine. Just make sure that you test the set before you purchase it.

    bro,

that really depends on whether you want to go hi-tech or low-tech setup. if you plan to go hi-tech, you'll definitely need a pressurised CO2 system. i got mine from NA brand new. its not really that expensive as i'm on a manual regulator. alternatively you can always try doing the DIY co2 generator using yeast and sugar method. i've personally tried that but still prefer the pressurised system. hassle free!

on the other hand, if you're planning a low-tech tank, dosing EXCEL will suffice.

just my 2 cents worth hope it helps you a little in deciding which system to get . also please correct me if i'm wrong

    Well,

I think will not buy any at the moment till I am really ready...

Just purely for my info, how much it cost for a new CO2 tank with all the accessories?

    Thanks

This should not be in plant talk. It's not a thread about plants, but equipment.

    I will shift it over.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

There are plentiful of good deals in the marketplace.

Recently, I have bought 2 used systems in the last 3 weeks.

Check for corrosion or signs of fatique on the cylinder. I think its best if the cylinder still holds some gas which affirms that its in good shape.

    Good luck!

if you plant to buy 2nd hand, try to get the NA one. It is life time waranty and one to one exchange during top-up. In other word if it is happen to be spoiled what you need to do is just go to NA and top-up

    Heheh.. That's a good one! I love NA's warranty.

I think like many who have suggested in this thread, it is alright to go for a good working condition 2nd hand set. I see it as a good long term investment to go for Co2 tank. The results with pressurized CO2 are happy plants in a beautiful planted paradise (with good ferts and light balance), an almost hassle-free life and a happy you!

However, do go along with what your budget allows as well.

    Cheers!
