Can't put in the fish that soon. I gave my tank 3 weeks at least to cycle before putting any livestock in.
I have just set up a new tank, and put some neon tetra inside there..
It is actually has not been cycled yet, New filter and no substrate..
They are like going to die very soon..
What is the possible reason? I dont think it is because the tank has not been cycled, 1 hour is just too fast.

did you put anti chlorine and chloramine? Did you just dump your fish in? because it can be because water parameter shock, temp shock, pH shock. How many fish you put in and how many die?
Actually your description is too general. Any fish will be killed within 1 min if the water is contaminated with potent toxic. Your water from tap? Tank washed? Any other chemical added? Were the fish badly stressed during transportation? How long were the fish in the plastic bag? What were their conditions in LFS before you bring them home? Did you float the plastic bag and periodically fill in your tank water?
You said the tank was not cycled and you are aware. Your poor neon will get wiped out, if not 1 hr later, very soon.

You smell the water? Same as from your tap?
Then the fishes are as good as gone.
I did acclimated them, but I dont treat the tap water, simply pour the tap water directly into the tank
Lesson learned,
Be more patient, wait for the tank to be cycled and
get a test kit before putting any livestock in..
It is my first time have a new tank set up with new filter..
I have the other 2 tanks for a couple of months but It was started with a stabilized substrate and filter media..
So this is why cycling is important, now I get it..
I was just so excited to see fishes in my tank, and now I see dead fishes

Sigh, I guess we do learn things the hard way.
I am sad for the poor tetras, but hopefully bro davescube do remember this lesson and at least we gain another responsible hobbyist.

As mentioned by bro Shadow. Remember to add anti-chlorine to treat tap water whenever you perform water change. Do not underestimate the "power" of chlorine added by PUB to keep us healthy (not fish apparently).

Felt sad to see your dead Neon Tetras..., but at least you felt bad with their death. (There are some out there who don't care a hoot about these faunas' lives as they simply thought that it can be easily replaced by spending a few more bucks...
Hopefully, this will serve as a lesson & reminder to you that it is a MUST to cycle the tank first before introducing any livestocks in next time... [Or at least, treat the tap water with anti-chlorine & anti-chloramine 1st...] But I'm sure you'll come back stronger after this incident in this hobby!!!
Let your new tank with the new filter cycle for a few weeks first to address the ANN cycle while using this period to plan the livestocks that you wish to house in the tank... better this way for you & the fishes also... Cheers!!!
PS: Snails are a form of live form too... Quite cruel to use them to cycle the tank instead of fish...

I am considering of getting a R.O but I dont know if it worths it..
How much does that cost in Singapore?
Yes you have the point there.. every living creatures have their own life..
We should respect them..
And dont play with their dead bodies..
I have a mass of snail in my dad's pond.. Because of their large quantities, some of them is used for my puffer food, and I did keep some at a very small container, I mean really very small..
So when they produce egg, I remove all the snail and watch them hatch and grow bigger and bigger.. quite fun, they grow real slow..
It is a pond snail anyway..
And I dont feed them anything at all..
simply put some plastic tubing and water.. some smily thing grows on the plastic, and I think that is the source of food for the snail..
most importantly, water.. or they will be dry and died..
I notice the different colouration in different enviroment..
I like the one that is in my container.. They have nice dark shell..

Hi bro, there are many options (brands/ types) of chlorine remover here... For myself, I'm using Seachem's PRIME as it helps to remove both chlorine & chloramine in our tap water... (Sorry, I'm not knowledgeable about R.O, so can't offer much help...)

Well, I'm also very fearful (as in get goosepimples) of those snails crawling on the ground after a rain... but currently, I have Ramshorn Snails in my tank & I find them so cute & lovely to watch them in action... Also keeping those common pond snail (don't know if they are the same as the ones in your pond though...) that comes with the plants I bought... Have to agree with you that they really breed fast, too fast & furious in fact...

Someone told me that R.O actually removes some of the good stuff and we have to add back the good stuff again..

Naivity, tut tut. Always read up, learn first. Then gain experience through practical measure. Losses are inevitable, but this scenario could have been avoided.

I have been staring at an almost empty (planted) tank for 7 weeks and still counting (just added in a few ottos a wk ago)...Sometimes I get really pissed with the wait. Never know keeping an aquarium actually helps in character-building.
When you are getting impatient, just try to imagine yourself as the fish that got stung all over by toxic that is making you suffocate and eating into your skin.
In doing this, we learn to treat all creatures large and small with respect.
