He will if he plants it that way surely. Impossible to not disrupt dust in the substrate.

I just pour them with hot water for a few times then soak them in tap water..
Hear some sound when pouring the hot water to both of them, but nothing seems wrong..

    Hi Bro Dave,

Is that big spongy thing your filter? From the last picture you posted, i don see how the water is being filtered cause i only see a pump. Are you using a external filter? Just asking cause im planning to get a new 2ft tank and was wondering what kind of filtration system to get.

You can planting now. Just use planting tweezers to avoid stirring up the substrate. JBL and ADA soil should never be washed, stired up. Happy planting! Tall plants at the back, Foreground plants in the front, moss on woods, rocks and brown moss means the temperature too high, use fans or chillers!

I used powerhead + sponge as my filter..
but later changed it to sponge + canister filter eheim 2222..
The sponge is used so the tiny livestock will not be sucked in..
    I keep shrimp in there..

For long term use, I suggest using canister filter... I believe it has high resale value too..

    An update..
The sponge is definitely an obstruct in the tank..
I might change them to a smaller type in the future...

I put the outlet pipe in the front instead at the back because I dont want the waterflow to hit the plant directly, it would not look nice

They outgrow the skin there in and so shed the old as they get older/bigger. So its a sign there growing and surviving i guess
