    Hi folks,

I am looking for a UV light but there are so many brands out there and comes with different price tag...

Can recommend me a reliable brand and what will be the cost like?

Beside that i realised that it comes with different wattage. So what wattage is all right for my 2' tank?

    Or anybody selling... hehe

I'm currently using a second hand UV 9W (Make in EU, new ones cost about $160 to $185) for my 1.3ton koi FGT. UV on for about 8hrs a day with timer.

For you size of tank maybe a 5W should be able to to do the job. You may go to SeaView to take a look they have a wide range of UV.

Just got myself a Jebo 9W from Petsmart for less than 50 for my 3 ft tank.

    thanks for all the info...

But which brand is more reliable?

Appreciate if you can provide the length of usage for your UV.

    Thanks

IMHO I think the important is the UV tube. My is a Philips tube which cost near to $40, twice that of a China make.

I can't remember the duration that is required, I just try an error. I may further reduce my duration.

There are some posts on the calculation on UV duration vs volume of water, you can do a search.

I have been running the Jebo 9w for the past 2 days non-stop and the water really clears up since yesterday evening. I do agreed that the brand of the UV tube makes a difference, will go for the better brand when replacing it.
