I was told that Dennerle is the best possible solution for plant and fish care.

    Those Gold7, V30, E15, A1, etc.

    Is that true?

Be careful with the best solution tag, there is no such thing as a best solution. There can be substitutes for every type of product, so someone will come along and tell you that his/hers is the best solution instead.

The best solution is what fits into your own requirements in terms of financial affordability, ease of use, product design and how it fits into your plant's needs, and so on. They are just tools to help you in your hobby, that's all.

If you are thinking of comprehensive instead of best, then yes, they do have quite a comprehensive range.

    Hi there

I have a 500L tank running solely on Dennerle system:
    E15 FerActiv
    V30 Complete
    PFLANZENGOLD-7
    S7 VitaMix
    A1 Daily Fertilizer
    TR7 Peat-Bark Extract
    FB7 Clear Water Filter Bacteria
    BioGrun - Tap Water Conditioner

I have faith in this German brand since they are one of the pioneers in the industry with Research & Development dating back to decades ago. They have contributed to the hobby a lot too (for example, there are more than 10 variants of Echinodorus discovered in the Dennerle green house in Germany).

Are they the best? That's hard to say... it's too subjective.
Are they the most expensive? Probably.

But one thing for sure is... they are more suitable for larger tanks as their solutions are more potent (less dilute). So you end up dosing less. For example: If I am to go for a few other brands with pumps, I will have to pump in a certain element 25 times a day! That's a lot of pumping work

However, Dennerle is not suitable for smaller tank. That's why my other smaller tanks are happily using ADA instead.

Just to add... I also appreciate the fact that they are more transparent with the make-up of their product. Information like these are clearly printed on the product booklet:

    V30 Complete:
    0.3018% Magnesium Oxide
    0.021% Boron
    0.006% Copper
    0.306% Iron
    0.122% Manganese
    0.012% Molybdenum
    0.006% Zinc
    0.002% Cobalt
    0.002% Nickel
    0.003% Lithium
    0.002% Aluminium
    0.0015% Vanadium

    PFLANZENGOLD-7
    4.74% Nitrogen
    0.29% Phosphate
    0.23% Potassium Oxide
    0.24% Iron (Chelate)

That's where we learn also... not just dose blindly

I do appreciate the Dennerle system and used to use them for my tanks. But I found it difficult to keep track as some were daily, some were used every 7 days, other 15 and yet others 30. As a traveling man, I finally give up and went to look for something else more manageable.

If I'm not wrong, Dennerle would easily rank as one of the most expensive options these days due to the crappy exchange rate we have against the Euro.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    Cheers,
    Hi Benny

So which product line are you using right now? I don't mind trying

Yupe, the startup cost for Dennerle system is daunting... but a lot of them are quite cost effective in the long run.

Take the E15 and V30 for example, you are only required to dose based on the amount of freshwater change, not the overall tank volume. So instead of dosing for 400L, you dose for 100L every forth-nightly.

    Oh yeah... just to add.

The Dennerle system was created for the Dutch-style, European style scaping. Might not work perfectly on Japanese scapes such as tank with Java ferns and 60% grass lawn.

Here's my current tank plan for my 500L project running on Dennerle.

It's only been running for a short while... and I'm curious if the Dennerle system can provide sufficient nutrients to such a huge plant mass. I am following their recommended dosage

That is one well planned scape.

I second that Dennerle is the most expensive i have come across so far. Their normal 5ltr gravel cost more then a 9ltr ADA aquasoil. I use S7 for the well being of my fishes. My 3ft is using the cyclo turbo 500. Loved this piece of equipment even though it cost many times more then the Taiwan/China make Co2 reactors.

The Dennerle Crystal Quartz gravel is made in Germany That's why we are paying for the premium... but on the other hand... this is contributing further to global warming

I used to have a All dennerle 4ft tank, what I like how dennerle products is the numbering, V30, S7, E15... with that, I follow my fertilisation regiment, monthly - V30, bi weekly E15 and weekly S7. Also used the biotop filter media and TR 7 for my 6ft discus and altum tank with good results.

but since the price hike, I gone with ADA but still uses E15 and plantgold 7

So it seems to be that it IS that good..

    I've got V30, E15, Gold7, S7 and A1.

I realised that my fishes and my plants are looking pretty good after using them.

All i can say is... it's only EXPECTED that you get what you paid for especially from a German company. But are there other cheaper brands out there that can do the job just as well? Probably yes. Fertilization is not really rocket science... come to think of it

Remember to read the instruction booklet carefully:

    1) Dose V30 every 30th of the month, E15 every 15th of the month (not on 15th and 30th).

    2) For V30 and E15, only dose according to the amount of freshwater you change, not overall tank volume. You can follow Dennerle's system of performing forthnightly 25% water change.

All the best to you and why not start a tank journal?

I have been using Dennerle since the day I started in planted with Apistos in 2004. Got poisoned by Joel of Sam's.

Reason why i still stick with it: i'm lazy!! And believe me, following the regime is easy.

Well, let me share with you my dosing time table, V30, E15 i don't dose on 15th/30th. Instead, i fixed my maintanance/dose day on Sat. So, i dose them at alternate fortnight and marked on my desktop calendar.
S7, PG7 i dump them in on every Sat.

I no longer uses TR7, Bio Grun, FB7
Btw, do you know FB7 comes with only 6months shelf life?
    Old guy into Apisto.....again....

Oh! Now that's gonna be tricky to identify since they do not print the expiry date on the bottle
