    Hi Julie,

If you look under the top lid, near the edge, you should see a rubber gasket (hidden in groove) going around the perimeter of the top lid. I believe the gasket could be mis-aligned or twisted due to some reasons. To rectify the problem, pry out the gasket using something pointed but not sharp. Apply some silicone grease onto the whole rubber gasket and re-install it back into the groove.

    Hope this helps.

    Julie,

Another possible issue could be that the filter housing around the pivot points of the clip could be broken due to excessive force being used during the opening or closing of the clip.

You can examine the problem area under good light and see if you can spot any crack lines?

    Thanks,
    George
