    Hello Everyone,

I finally got my first pair of Ap. Trifasciata. Now both of them are residing in my less than 1ft tank, With only 2 drift wood tied with Ferns and a cave for the female to hide. Thus, i would like to share the pair with everyone in here.

    Thanks for the comments.

I got it from C328. Infact, i was looking for Apisto with red tail. I saw it once before my tank is ready. But when my tank is ready, the pair is gone.

The male is about 1 inchs long.

Thanks for the advice. Apisto is a very interesting fish.

I do enjoy looking at the Apisto especially when both of them are dancing to each other.

The male is longer in terms of body size but i think the female is fatter.

Oh, i do notice this 2 days that the female is also hidding inside the cave that i had provide and the body is yellow. At times, the female will came out of the cave and chase away any other fishes near the front and back entrance. Is this normal?

O.o. the pair is only a week in my tank. Well, other than keeping my eyes open, i going to cross all my fingers.

Man, they are forcing me to get a new and slightly bigger tank if they breed.

bluetbk, would appreciate if you could refrain from using SMS abbreviations as they are strongly discouraged in the forum. They can be really really really difficult to read, more so for our foreign members. Many thanks.

    Anyway, welcome to Apistogramma keeping!

Yeah any movements these days? Tri's mum taking babies out for a walk?

Actually i don't think the male is small.. Apistogramma once they compatible "Male and female you love me, i love you" will breed. If not fated, you force them also won't breed.. No feelings... Hahahaaa

I have being observing them everyday. No babies any where. I think the female is not ready yet. I keep seeing the female avoiding the male, thus i decided to sepearate them. Putting the female in a small breeding tank within the main tank. I intend to nurse her back to health as she had some torn tails and fins.

I shall keep this thread update soon.

Yeah good choice you've make. Better let her recover first before putting her back to pit fight... Nurse her well.. If there's any injury must take note because very prone to fungus infection. Those furry white hair like growing on the wound. Very hard to cure.

So far, i think the female is still ok for the broken tail. But i think she felt abit of loneliness. Hope she can get back to health and i can let her go back to the main tank.

To keep a pair in a less than 1 ft tank might be difficult. I have a pair of viejita in a 1 ft tank even so the male is badly battered.
Guess this is what happens when the female has bred.

i am keeping my fingers cross when i release the female back to the main tank. Hopefully in the near future, i am able to get myself a 30cm cube tank. That is the max size i want for my planted.

I am very glad that i came across this species of fish from all fellow Ap. owners. Thanks to AQ and all brothers here. Ap. is a very very interesting fish.
