Currently having green thread like algae in my tank, cant seem to find an ID for it via google. Nothing in those pictures look like the ones i'm having in my tank now.

I'm sorry that I cant provide a better, cant seem to get one as I dont have a proper dc. Using my hp to take pictures and its not clear at all.

Its green in colour and thread like. I can manually remove it but it keeps growing...gets longer too

Anybody knows wat algae this is and how to get rid of it ?

SAE and yamato will clear them up fast. Remember not to feed, else they will not eat the algae.

YES! exactly the same algae problem that I'm currently facing in my tank. have been removing them out manually everyday.. feels slimy to the touch. yuck!
hopefully the SAEs start working soon.
looking to rescape the tank, just made some orders on mizuworld. cant wait for the items to arrive!

guess im right on track, too bad i dont have a preference of adding algae clean up crew, besides SAE will grow too big for my 10L tank, even 1FT i would probably not do so. 4 months of PH at below 6.5, all my nerite snails all tomatos.....

Not sure if this is the after effect of BGA, however i find them easier to clear as compared to the earlier, a real pain.

IMO frequent water changes and lowering the temperature helps in preventing Algae. If i am not wrong the algae you are experiencing, has a life cycle.. Let the cycle finish and the algae will clear up soon.

You could consider adding some Yamato shrimps?

    cheers,

Over a period of two weeks, I halved my liquid fertilizer dosage and reduced the light intensity to 4 hours at 100%; 6 hours at 50% (lights-on for a total of 10 hours per day). In addition, I added 30 Yamatos. And all the hair algae is gone !!

I am now back to normal for a week and monitoring. So far so good.....

just to add that Polyart has Flag fish that is just as effective at removing hair algae and bba. This cute little fellow tears it out and munches.
    Cheers,

    taken off another website :http://www.floridadriftwood.com/alga..._flag_fish.htm

Not spectacular looking, but it displays the curious nature of most cichlids, which makes it interesting. It is not shrimplet safe I feel, but adult shrimp should be able to co-exist.

Yamatos are very good hair algae eaters but they graze on leaflets. My mini pellia got traces of "grooming" since they are introduced.
    Cheers,
    Andrew
