Haha, thanks, no no...its not a real tree, I got a driftwood which look like a tree trunk and tied Java Moss on top it, to make it look like a tree

Yeah...actually intend to make this into a fry tank, have over 30 platy fries in my main tank at the moment,I am waiting for them to get more stable (& bigger) before introducing them to this nano tank

    Some updates

Some updates on my simple nano tank:

Removed the old crown made up of Java Moss, as the crown is thinning and some of the moss got sucked up by the filter and floating ard, making the tank look messy.

Added a new crown composing of some stem plants i trimmed from my main tank

Pardon for the poor pic quality.

bro, i think your stem plant might not make it.

if i'm not wrong, the only kind of plants you should be tying are either rhizomes or mosses only... you stem plants will probably rot at the point where it is being tied at or just gradually die off...

Hi Bro, thanks for the advice, actually I did not tie the stem plant to the driftwood but instead let it float around entangled with the driftwood, btw, the plants surviving well when I first trim them and put them floating around inside an internal tank in my main tank.

but then, water conditions are different in the current nano tank, will wait and see what happens next, cheers

    Some updates:

The stem plant did not make it, so I removed them with the driftwood altogether and placed a smaller driftwood inside as the original one is too big for this nano tank. I reused some of the plants (water sprite, rotalas) from my main planted tank in this one. I hope they survived because I kind of like this scape

Gone already, think light not strong enough to penetrate to the bottom of the tank

i see a Vallisneria sp. at the right side of the tank.. do take note if you're dosing excel, you will kill the plant. i learnt it the hard way

btw, you should plant more heavily. try to do about 50% planted..

oh and do i see platy fries?

    Hi Bro,

Yes, that Vallisneria sp. which is growing like wild fire in my high tech main tank but doubt it will survive here due to the low tech conditions, I do dose a few drops of Flourish Comprehensive in this tank though, dunno will work or not

Thanks for the suggestions, will try to plant more but the gravel is too thin a layer and that makes planting difficult, futhermore most plants that do well in the main tank can't adapt well in this nano tank. At the moment I am thinking of keeping it simple.

Yeah, they are platy fries and this nano tank is my fry tank in the comfort of my room, kind of cute to see active fries always swimming around looking for food
