moss+ hair algae

I have flame moss that has a lot of this algae
Now i cleaned it several time as much as possible but still the algae appear again


Ideas ?

There are quite a number of fish that would eat Hair algae but I think Black Mollies are among the most effective. You can also try Rosy Barbs or Guppies.

I've also heard that you can tie the moss in a plastic bag and leave it in your fridge for a few days to get rid of the algae. Haven't tried it before though. But I know if you leave the moss in a small tank and keep it in a dark place with some algae-eating shrimps, the algae will all be gone after a few days.

What about using chlorine with water ?
Also won't the black mollies eat the moss ?

I doubt chlorine will work but if it does, the dosage probably has to be at very high levels which in turn would more likely kill the moss itself. As for Black Mollies eating the moss, I've never seen it happen before, not even with very hungry Mollies.

It may be due to water quality issue like too much bio-load or water flow rate too high.
You may wish to first do a quick cure with black out for 3 days. Then, do a good change of water, lower the filter rate flow*, add other than what KL suggested, shrimp and SAE.

*The flow rate selection is subjected to outlet point of the filter:
1) if it is at the surface, rate can be higher - I suggest no more than 4 times turnover rate per hour
2) if it is no at the surface, rate need to be lower - I suggest no more than 2 times turnover rate per hour.
