    Hi bro,

I need some advise and feedback on my new set up.
Plants in the tank are, spiky moss, flame moss, mini nana, java fern, sword plant, etc.

Some of the plant started to turn yellowish or rot. What went wrong.

    My setting, chillier temperture control at 26 deg, T5 X 4 tubes with 6 hrs, Co2 at 3 bubbles/sec.

    Please advise .....

    What plants are yellowing?

Do you supplement with any liquid fertilizers for your tank?

How heavily planted is this tank?

What are you using to diffuse CO2 inside your aquarium?

There's quite a bit we do not know about your setup (size, pH, substrate, etc). A note about the lighting period is that it could be adjusted to about 8-10 hours. 6 hours is a little too short.

Sounds like a nutrient deficiency, namely iron that could be caused by nitrogen deficiency. Plantes need nitrogen to fix iron.

Echinodorus loves high lighting and longer periods as suggested by Ben. You can get by with 8 hours though.

Oh yes, i have added both liquid fertilzers and iron as well. It still not consider heavy planted as the plants are still very young. I used a diffuse for the Co2.

I guess it is the lighting too. Should i switch on the lighting for 4hrs and break for an hour, follow by another 4hrs? or continuous for 8hrs?

continuous is better, break is help when you have algae issue.

Actually 3 bubble/sec does not mean anything, try to get some ppm measured. Which plant that turn yellow? Did you bought your plants from LFS? It might be because of converting from emerse to submerse.

I did the siesta method before. No noticeable difference to algae. [nothing significantly different]

Maybe you want to share exactly what plants are yellowing and how long is your setup? If it is the sword plant, any chance you could have damage the roots when planting?

The java fern and sword plant started to turn yellowish. These plants are from the LFS. The setup is about 3 weeks old.

I never try sword plant before so I can't comment but for Java fern and any other fern typically will start to turn yellowish or rot around that time. Did you see any new leaves forming up? New leaves can be identify by the darker color and liitle bit transparebt around the tip.
