Actually this plant is relatively easy if you have co2. You just need to fertilise correctly.....
Definitely much easier than M. umbrosum.
I'm intending to have Hemianthus micranthemoides (aka pearlweed) in my 2ft tank. But was wondering the difficulty of the plant and requirements. Seems like there is a lot of experts here who has got tonnes of it after trimming.
Current setup:
2FT
co2 cylinder
cooling fan manage to cool it at around 25-26 degree celcius
lighting wise i'm not quite sure of the wattage. Dunno what kind of lights i have also. but i know it is not a FL.
how should i care for it.
Interested to know more before getting my hands on and melting away. Went to C328 a few times, but did not get it as well cos i'm not sure if it is really pearlweed.
Thanks. =)

dose correctly ? well.. just started planted not long ago. only have got myself excel, flourish and nitrogen only. now still in the trying stage. thanks bro for reply.
lets see what others has to say bout this plant =)
agree with Justin, HM is rather easy, strong lights with proper fertilization will ensure that the bottom of the stem wouldn't be bare. Try not to plant them in a bunch but a few strain each, they shed leaves from the bottom up if light is insufficient
i've gotten myself 5 pots already =). did as advice.. planting them one by one. took me nearly 2hrs . 5 pots is really alot. hah
hopefully can make it.. thanks for ur advice bros.
=)
oh, the setup with pearlweed was torn down quite some time back already =)
latest tank can be seen here http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=43249
Hi does pearlweed spread out like HC? I think they are same family right?
will excel be sufficient for CO2 supplement?
What if i only have common gravel for the base (no nutrient rich base)? Will the pearlweed spread?
i'm not sure if excel would suffice, but i'm using aquaclay for my substrate. it is doing well with the substrate when i grow them previously. it is a pretty easy plant but when it gets real thick, the leaves at the bottom would not receive as much lights and will melt off.
that's the only challenge i faced.![]()
