    Hi All

Just wondering is there any shrimp (cherries) food in the market that will enhance it's redness?

Overheard a conversation @ Seaview previously that there is a kind of food that we can feed the cherries to enhance it's color.

Food containing carotenoids? Additives like astaxanthin? They will almost take any decomposing organic food.

I read of some who tried sweet potatoes on the shrimps. Some use paprika and marigold flower to enhance the red on kois, which may be usable for shrimps as well. (Disclaimer: research and test them first in case there are side effects)

However, all these come down to nothing if you can't keep up with good water conditions for the shrimps.

Upon Seaview recommendation, bought the following yesterday.

Crystal Shrimp Chips - by ANS (Aqua Nature System)
    - High quality vegetable content
    - Rich in vitamins complex & minerals, improve natural color intensity & health of shrimps.

In case anyone is interested, attached are pictures of the packing.

    Hi riccia,

So the above that you bought are suitable for all kind of shrimps in bringing out the best colour of the shrimps? So far, am feeding my Sakuras, Cherries & Taiwan shrimps these flakes from Hai Feng (picture on the bottle suggest suitable for Cardinal Tetras, Neon Tetras & also to help bring out the best colour of them...)

I cannot guarantee you that it will definitely bring out the best color of the shrimps. I am also trying them too upon recommendation.

Your water condition can also be a determining factor.

Refer to pictures above for your other questions.

Flakes are supposed to be floating. Please correct me if I am wrong.

You will need sinking food for shrimps.

anybody know what kind of DIY food can i feed my cherry shrimps? I find tha feeding them CRS food every time is quite costly, I am thinking of feeding them a combination of CRS food and DIY food..

oh by the way, i agree that feeding cherry shrimps CRS food does improve their colour, my cherry shrimps are way redder than the sakura shrimps found in LFS's

well i have 2 kinds but they are both not the very high end brands like GEX.. i can't remember the name of one but the other is corina shrimp delight for bee shrimp.. that one is only $2.50 and the other one is about $5.50.. bigger bottle than the GEX one also. I am more inclined towards cheaper price than better brand. but i think they work as well. Some of my female shrimp are deep red.

I feed my cherry and sakura shrimps CRS food, Mosuru brand and the color get betters. It came with a bottle of solution suppose to make CRS white better, then I hand itchy, dosed some to try. The color got better after a few days. And now, I dose Mineral Plus whenever water change.

Now both my sakura and cherry look like the same color, hardly can tell them apart.

I would recommend Mosura Mineral Plus, in the other forum another bro cherry is very red and he is using Mineral Plus too.

I read from some website before that the colour (dark or light coloured) of the substrate will affect the colour of the shrimps. is this true?
