I came across this site looking to buy S.A.E. Hard to find. I was reading some of the posts and looking at galleries and I liked what I saw and read. Very knowledgable group. Can any one help me in finding the elusive S.A.E. ? I haven't found any site that sells them and if they do they are out of Stock.. Please Help... I will post some pictures soon...

    Thanks

    Hey Nicholas ..
I am from Chicago Il. Subs and am at work right now searching for S.A.E. I have 20g tank, long, planted with CO2 doing well.. But now all of a sudden I have this Hair Like Algae, Thick looking, growing on my leaves and can't seem to get rid of them. I have 2 Otos but they don't seem to be doing anything to get rid of it. Read about the S.A.E. and the Sailfin Molly and thought they might be the answer to my tank. Oh.. Where are my manners.. Thank you for asking and Where you at?

    Fred,

Yamatos shrimps might be a better bet for the hair algae.
Hopefully its easy for you to get them.

We are lucky in Singapore as the LFS are now consistently getting real SAE's.
From what I read SAE's are sometimes hard to identify in the USA market.
One of the tell tale signs for a "firm" ID is this: the dark brown line parallel to the fish length has to have a jagged edge.
If this line is a crisp and clear edge then its probably not an SAE.

    Mollies work too.
But you really need to starve them to do so.
You may try the Florida Flag fish too.
But ditto on the starving part.
And btw when the SAE gets larger they like your fish food better than algae.
Hence the initial suggestion on yamato shrimps.

Most of us in the forum are from Singapore and,
    Welcome to AQ!
