Its quite frustrating but when changing water, the removable hose connector part developed a crack... Went to 328 to enquire about warranty since its been less than a year, but was told that only the motor is covered by the warranty...

I have since replaced the part (good thing) but not without some cost...

Given this experience, I am starting to move away from eheim (starting to believe the horror stories about their deteoriating QC) and have bought a new FX5 to run in parallel with the (fixed) 2028 for my 4ft pleco tank....

FX5 is really good although its on the large side...

I guess it only apply to Pro II series? A lot people having problem with Pro II but not Classic series.

The warranty provided by manufacturer usually covers defects due to manufacturing process. This exclude user handling problem.

Material cracks is a grey area as it could be caused by either lousy material used or user handling.

Its abit of a random luck I guess... I have read about the issues relating to the Pro2 series for a while but refused to believe it... at least till now...

Did consider the classic but always fell for the larger footprint of the Pro2

    Hi Savant,
I had some trouble with the removable hose connector as well and it actually came apart. Could you let me know where you got it replaced at how much it roughly costs?

    Thanks for your help.

If it is hapen very hard or difficult to take out the hose, try not to force it, instead use hot water, pour on it for a while until the hose soften. It is easier to take out that way.

I have been using eheim filters for some time now.
No bad experience in using the professional 2 series as yet.
But you will have to take note of how to properly assemble and operate the filter.
The classis series has less parts to assemble and has a much simple design, thus you would face less problem is it's application.

As for spare parts, go to Qian Hu or pet mart as they have a large variety of parts for you to service your filter.

See this is the other thing, Eheim actually have spare parts for you to replace. As compared to some other brands with no spare parts should any component break down.

Well nothing is 100%. Ehiem is still a very reputable brand, i think those who have kept their workhorse running for a decade or so without any major hiccups. You might want to feedback to ehiem & let them know about it.

    Cheers!
