I own 2 Eheim ecco and they are brilliant. Much better than the chinese brand for sure
I had eheim ecco before, definitely worth the money spend, value for money, low power usage and very quiet.![]()
No complain so far on me ecco too.
I am using ecco 2236 for the past 3 years without any problems.
There is always some issue about the handle lock malfunctioning.
My filter also has that issue but I have fixed it by fixing a metal pin between the lock and the handle.

I've just bought the ecco 2236 after reading from the forum/website about it's benefits. Definitely worth the investment, and live up to its name! Super quiet, very low power consumption (I presume having read from the Eheim website), nice shape (cylindrical, not bulky), and easy to start off (no need to use mouth to suck water through the inlet/outlet tubes). What more can I say? Looking forward to using it for my 3 feet planted tank for many more years to come.
Oh yes, there's 3-year warranty on the motor as well..![]()

Thanks for all the feedback. i am actually thinking bteween this and tetratec ex400 (but need to check out tetratec price). i read from some review that the bypass for this filter is not as good so would like to hear feedback from bro/sis here about this filter.
I have never had bypass problems with this filter.
As long as the baskets are properly fitted there will be no bypass.
Worst comes to worst you can always shove in filter floss on the basket sides to block any bypass. but again thats only if required.

Hi,
Just deployed a used mid-sized Ecco. What is the by-pass issue mentioned above?
Seems the handle hinges are quite fragile. But parts were available.

By-pass means the water by-passes the media and gets short circuited causing improper filtration. If the baskets are fitted properly there can be no bypass.
