I like the black too. This is the 2nd time i see them. The first time i saw this species early this year, it was a much bigger adult specimen. This guy here is a juvenile at 2 inches .

Nice whiptail genes. I also have them. What is its name? i've searched to no avail

what size is considered an adult?

Also, if i am not wrong, these are all wild caught specimens.. from brazil? or rather.. from South America: Sinú and Magdalena River basins and possibly the Catatumbo River ?

Nice Whiptail. Yup, i think it is a Rineloricaria species as well.

I've learnt that the red one is named - Rineloricaria fallax Hemiloricaria sp. L010a.

Not sure about a black one though.

    Cheers!

I had some of these many weeks back already. This particular species is very friendly and i am able to hand feed them algae chips.

Yeah man.. I am into ottos and whiptails.. Actually algae eaters mostly.. Heard these whiptail catfish can really clear algae real good.. I have the normal whiptail catfish and the red lizards as well.. IMO.. The red lizard do not really help to clear algae as much as the whiptails..

Care to share why do you think this is R. magdalenae? What traits actually distinguish R. magdalenae from the rest?

Where did you read this information? I have not heard of L010a being identified yet.

Uhm, yes, I am aware of the article, but these are newly described species.

What I am interested is why do you think your fish is specifically R. magdalenae? Just like to know if there is some article or picture (specifically on R. magdalenae) you found, please do share it with us.
