    Hi all Guru here,

I would like to ask a noob question. For freshwater Aquatic plants what is the best lights color for them? 6500K, 8000K, 10000K, 12000K & 15000K?

The reason is because I came across this MH light what is 150W with 12000 - 15000k and the seller claim that it is good for aquatic plant. Wonder how true it is as I always thought that 6500 - 8000k is the best for aquatic plants.

    Thanks

    With regards
    Darren

I am not sure about the seller's claim. But daylight colours are more pleasing to my eyes and it works for the plants.

    Here's something I read elsewhere:

You should choose lighting with the color temperature that best suits the aesthetic goals of your tank.

    Good luck!

For me, I mix 2 6500k T5HO with one 10000k T5HO bulb on my four tube Hopar light.(One is off of saving electricity)And the growth of plants are nice.
Secondly the red plants looks redder with 6500k or less due to the spectrum. Lesser is redder.

The article discussed alot about the light spectrum. However what about the Watt of the tube? 24W vs 36W vs 55W etc, does it make a different to the growth of aquatic plants?

6500 - 8000k is correct range, but slightly more yellowish for 6500k, more white for 8000k
those high k ones are for coral, marine tank

Bros, I tried 10K T5 and my plants not doing as well as when I changed to the 6500 and the 8000 ones. (I am using 4x6500 and 4x8000 T5)
