With no offense to the team who brought home the medal and the coach who "MIA" during the match, i don't think that Ms Lee should not be sacked. The ones to go should be the coach guiilty of "MIA" from the match. Just my view.

Just read that there is a petition circulating online that she be sacked. (For those who don't know, she is the newly appointed Singapore Table Tennis Association president who sacked the silver medal winnning coach and team manager.)

Do things SWEE SWEE lah. Singapore first time won medal and a lot of things can also be settled behind closed door.
What Singapore need now is positive global attention and we put so much effort to look cosmopolitan and get in talents and tourists. For what?
Jobs jobs jobs...
Saw newspaper today. Guess she got kanan badly.
Whilst the gravity of the situation does not warrant her dismissal or resignation, the way things happened does put her leadership/management capabilities in doubt.
If the Singapore government wants to start emphasising on nuturing sporting talents, then they should also consider management talent in addition to the promising athletes. The same that they do for ministers. Putting civil servant types in these critical roles will only stifle sporting talents, not nuture them.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
IMHO... it's the her high handed way of handing the situation that puts people off.. she basically just shoot at people when something happen, without looking at the whole situation, without thinking of the timing, without giving the other party a proper chance to explain.... basically, as if she is the big boss and do just what she think is right.....![]()
As a professional consultant, as the president of STTA, a very very senior management position... and best of all, as a MP... the way she handle the whole incident is unacceptable, it is worst that even a junior manager...![]()
So, while what she did may not warrant her to be sacked... I think she should resign.
As much as i dislike her antics, i think she is very inexperience. Having trusted a journalist and thus giving the journalist the opportunity to blow things up before she could react.

Singapore a lot of things are No 1 and world class.
It is also well known our management also No1 .(In Descending order)
I see this as a system flaw. How she can behave like that is part of the system requirement.
The Chinese saying : Frozen 3 ft ice is not a result of a night's doing
According to the channel news asia:
The controversy started when table tennis player Gao Ning had to play without a coach on the sidelines during the Olympic Games as his assigned coach had been held up at an earlier match which overran.
So you can't blame the coach, this thing happen and I not sure about table tennis, in other sport, you can't change the acting coach in the middle of the game. So even if the coach finished the other match he can't jump in to the current match.
Ah, that's the well known system that's been the rave of management across the island. 1 person to manage 2 post. Quite popular in the local companies here. When something goes wrong with this system, blame the person who has to manage 2 post. What will it takes to break away from this system?

Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.
Anyway she has apologised. But i personally think she has done nothing wrong. Equality and fair treatment is crucial to our country's system. The way these imported coaches run the system is like what they might do in their native countries.
High handedness is part and parcel of life in singapore. I mean just use this forum as an example, all trouble makers are banned, no two ways about it. Ruthless as it may seem, it makes us that much more efficient.

did she has apologised ? or is she instructed/forced to apologise ?
she never said she made a mistake. She said "I had made comments which had been misunderstood." So it is us that understand her wrongly... and then "Our action has dampened the celebration mood"... what has it got to do with the rest of the people?
Anyway, to me, she failed.... and to her boss that think this case is closed... I say good luck in the next election...![]()
Cool down Merv. While I agree with you that her antics leaves a lot to be desired, don't take it so personally. I wonder how this will affect them in terms of getting new foreign players/coaches/managers next time.
