    Hi ppl,

somehow i dun feel the white rock in the centre is nice, but i got it for a change as i used to have drift wood. What do u guys think?

My old tank face hair algae problem, which grow massive even after i plug and throw them again every week! in the end i throw all the plants away.

i reuse the soil , washed the filter, change 5l CO2 ,change Teco chiller and replant with all new plants. By 3rd day all of the plants have roots grown out. Guess the water is fine. I never add any other thing liao.

Your tiger lotus may take over the tank. Make sure you keep it strictly trimmed to a reasonable size. If you allow a leaf to reach the water surface, itll learn this and send all other leaves to the surface too. So keep it trimmed about mid height. It'll send out new leaves and eventually keep to the size you trim it.

Other than that, nice simple scape. Not sure on the Cabomba, it always looks so messy and unsightly i think. Plus they rapidly take over. In my tank they used to grow about an inch a day, i got fed up with them and binned them.

    What lighting do you use?
And what substrate is that your using?
Do you dose and ferts? or plan to?

I think once the white stone gets seasoned a bit... it will look more natural. The way you plant individual stems are quite interesting... plant mix is pretty unusual too. Can't wait to see some growth

Haha i know that Cabomba grow fast, already cut and throw many away. Intention is to make the dense look. Hee
So the taller plants i put in the back.
i will take note on the tiger lotus.

    See better pics at http://s141.photobucket.com/albums/r...%20Sep%202008/

    I'm using 1 x 2ft T5 24w/10000k x4 tube and 1 x 2ft PL 55w together so the plant from front and back can get the lights.
    Dunno what is substrate.
But i got add abit of BAXTER GH - KH PLUS when i add new water.
My Ph always maintain at around 7.4 - 7.0
I also put jbl Ferropol (Complete Liquid Fertilizer with iron)
    and Wonder-Gro Root+
    1BPS now

Worried abt hair algae again, what fish or snail should i get?

Thanks thanks all my plants are growing so fast. Newly added plants can see roots coming out within 1-2 days.

bro i think with the light wattage u have now and co2 at 1 bps, most probably algae will visit you soon.maybe just use 1 set of lighting and add in some algae cleaning crew and tune the co2 higher a bit.just my opinion

True SAE are usually good at hair algae. Otto's are good in general, but some seem to leave hair algae.

My SAE which is not a true SAE

    True SAE

Hope this helps you mate. The first two images are of my own taking from my fish tank. The 3rd and 4th image are off of google images, just to settle that for copyright issues and what not.

If you want descriptions of the true SAE they can readily be found on google just by searching "true SAE".
