It'll be easier to drain half the water before you catch them... they're kindda sly and fast.
Another devilish idea I have is to pump in adequate CO2 till they mabok, scoop them up and do the necessary resuscitation in the other tank.![]()

long time no see, im e one that bought e driftwood from you. Anyway thats an evil thought, maybe dynamite might work hahah.
But i guess the easiest way is to create a trap, Cut the top of a 1.5L bottle off then invert it into the remaining body of the bottle that has Fish food or other bait in it and there you have it very own tetra trap. But it takes patience...
cheers
Continuous effort- neither strength nor intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential
Just to share a bad experience in using the DIY trap I had lately... Did a DIY set up (used smaller 500ml bottle) similar to the one described by bro freddiewee with the intention to catch some of my Cherry & Sakura shrimps.. Put in the trap with food as bait, left it in my tank to await the shrimps to enter.. Upon checking the trap after a few hours, found three shrimps (1 Orange, 1 Sakura & 1 Tiger shrimps) inside the trap - but dying...Immediately opened the trap & tried to 'save' the shrimps by putting in an airstone but was too late... Unluckily, the 3 shrimps died as a result; luckily not all my shrimps went in...
After the mishap, thought of a few possible reasons for the death:
1) Lack of oxygenated water in the trap for the faunas to last [Maybe I should poke a few small holes on the bottle to allow oxygenated water to be circulated];
2) The plastic bottles may have leaked some kinda toxic & killed my 3 shrimps [If so, why the toxic never kill off my uncaught shrimps in my tank - TOUCHWOOD!];
3) I just too UNLUCKY - Works for others but dun work for me
Hence, am apprehensive in using this DIY trap method in my tanks again in the future... Think will just do it the hard way, arm myself with a net & chase after the faunas like MAD!!!
Note: Just to share my own bad experience, you may try. Maybe I'm just unlucky...![]()
