starting a 4ft tank

hey guy ...
i will be starting a new tank soon hope to keep some plecos and plants... any recomendation...on types of plants that will not be eaten by plecos...or any plecos that will not eat plants...lol either way...
i wish to start of with normal "L" series but those affordable one ... any recomendation
