A very stressed pleco.
A very stressed pleco.

hahaha! That was day #1...now it found a nice little cave under the Riccia matt to hide. been feeding it with Algae Wafers and only comes out at night after lights off.
i'm heading to buy another this weekend.
returned to the LFS to pick up another pleco. saw the tank labelled L134 so that's probably it.

Could be my mistake but at the moment it still looks like an L168 to me. [or a very skinny and flat L134]![]()
Normally-
1. On your fish, the black bands are very wide and even. Normally L134 pattern is more random. [I have 4 at home and seen quite a few in person to make this assumption]
2. fish profile is flatter/lower for L168. [I've kept L168 before and recently seen a big bag of them going to Australia a month back]
3. the pattern is not defined. Could be due to stress however. In this case it looks very stressed.
However, the difference is L168 can go camouflage mode. It did not try to turn dark on the dark substrate so it could be a L134.
Time will tell, L134 max size is smaller than L168. L168 tends to have more transparent undersides.

im might be wrong but the picture with the unidentified pleco inside the net seems to have white spots and i believe its not doing very well inside your tank.
hope the pleco gets better as time passes.

it's good now...more settled and white spots gone. my newer member also had white spot when added to tank. will monitor next few days.
extremely hard not to overstress them during the transition and acclimatisation.
Care to share which LFS you managed to get these L134s from? How big are the specimens on sale? I agree with Stan than it looks more like a L168 from the picture but then again I am no expert.

sure. it's @ sea view. there are still a few left since sat and can be found in 2 separate tanks so go do some searching. all about 1 to 1.5"
will try to post more pic if i can get a good shot of them in my plant infested tank![]()
Thanks for the info! Hope your plecos settle down soon!

well its looking good now. Its definately not a L134, i think it might be either a L103 or L104. My guess should be L104. i spent a few minutes flipping through my aqua log book for you already.
if im right, it would grow up till 10 cm.

Yes... do note that these mini panaques are wood eaters... you must take care to ensure that they have a good supply of wood to chew on... There are some issues I read abt not letting them eat meaty foods, but i guess its unavoidable if you keep a number of other species such as hypancistrus and peckolitas...
I have a few pieces somewhere in my 4ft too...

Yes, coloured and patterned up it looks totally different from L134 or L168.
Looks very nice.

agreed more like L104...so a case of mislabelling on the LFS's tank.
My 1st L104 is more settle having kept for 1 week already.
I do have quite a few drift and bogwood in my tank...probably will think about adding more knowing this fact now.
thanks all!
Do watch out for your plants too.
