The scientific name of those fishes are Pristella maxillaris. The common or trade name that is being used for them are X-ray tetras. So both of you are talking about the same fish.
However, the balloon that Morgan01 alludes to is that your fish is NOT "naturally occurring", but an aquarium variant or strain known as such because of it's shape. Here is the a picture of the "naturally occurring" fish for comparison (courtesy of Juggler).
So to be precise, your fish is the balloon variant of Pristella maxillaris or X-ray tetra.
One other thing, some tetras/characins have an appetite for dwarf shrimps. Your CRS can be potential food for them, unless there is a LOT of hiding places for them and the fishes are well fed.

Yeah I've taken them out as soon as i put my crs in... just took a picture for keepsake...
I have read up on crs and noticed hat there are people who managed to breed them under fan conditions my temperature range is around 26/27 degrees... and I should think the tank has matured as my ammonia and nitrite levels have drop to zero.... nitrate level is 40... the only thing I'm worried about is the GH levels which is quite high as i have added mineral rocks... the rest of the parameters seem to be ok, using API equipment to test. Oh and Ph seems to have dropped to 6 after adding the mineral rocks.
your nitrate is 40?
I heard that CRS needs good water parameters?
I would consider 40 to be rather high even for my goldfish (they are hardier than CRS).
I heard for cherry shrimps they are comfortable with 25ppm nitrate or so.
But they are hardier than CRS for sure.
I think you need to do a water change just to be careful.
you can maintain just around 10-15ppm for nitrate just for your plants if you like.

Oh I'm using the API 5 in 1 stick testers... they seem to have a different scale... nitrate is in intervals of 20
and the GH is puzzling.. it's in intervals of 30
anyway I have decommissioned this nano tank and moved on to a 1.5ft tank.. thanks for everyones help....
