Bogwood? I think it will look nice with Moss on it![]()
hi all, just bought this piece of DW and wonder if these are useful to grow moss attached to them because i dont see many forumers here using this type of DW.. those black ones are more common instead.. will the moss root in these types of DW?
Also, can larva rock be used in a planted? as i got 2 which i kind of like.. thanks!

Thanks & Regards,

Yes, the moss will hold on to the bogwood.
you would probably be more concerned with whether it sinks properly or not
my mileage is that they usually need a bit of work and time to sink fully
Yeah mate... It will take root on the bogwood.. no worries :0
your worry should be like what Lee had mentioned, waiting out for it to sink.
Thanks & Regards,
Trevor
Nice piece of bogwood there...
For the sinking part, maybe you can try tying a few pieces of those heavy pebbles/stones underneath your Bogwwod & then try to use the substrate to cover it...
Moss taking roots on it should be no problem if your water parameters support the mosses' growth...
Waiting to see how you going to use this piece of wood in your tank, do post pics subsequently ok? Thanks!![]()
thanks alot buddies
i thought of boiling it but i dont have a pot which is big enough
Can any kind soul who is staying in sengkang or hougang area lend me a pot for a day or two?of course those that you have used to boil Bogwoods... not those proper ones that you are using to cook
yes, i guess i need pebbles to sink it at last resort...
I've tied flame moss on such bogwood and it grew nicely. I've also have lava rocks in my scape, replicating mountains.![]()
Yes moss will grow on these bogwoods.
My bogwood took around 2 month to sink, so don't worry they will sink eventually.
I used the marine underwater epoxy (2in1 type) to cement my bog wood to a heavy stone in order to keep it at the bottom. The typical epoxy are safe when cured. I keep sakura shrimps in the same tank with no problems.
