No reply? Likely not many keeping this fish. Maybe it is new in the market?![]()
I just get to know this so called Dwarf Golden Algae Eater. I it slightly smaller than the otto. Notice there is a snail to do a rough comparison.
Wondering anyone has kept it before and could advise on the maximum it will grow until? I am worry it will grow too huge. I do not like big fish like those size of SAE. If it does not grow very big, I may consider to get a few more. Please advise if possible. Thanks.

wow this is really cute!!
sorry can't help much though :P:P:P

saw at y618 being named "ballon golden algae eater" small and cute.. guess its new in the market.. doubt it will grow any bigger than a full size oto.. anyone know does it eats shrimplets?
i wouldn't take that chance if i were you.
i had a normal GAE once and it was very aggressive. it was literally hugging the algae wafer and having it all to himself. even bigger fish like angelfish stood no chance to grab a bite off the GAE's algae wafer. one tough buddy.
and it got so smug that it started chasing all the other fishies around for fun. so i had to let him go.... into my bro's crayfish tank. heh
I somehow agree on the possibility of becoming aggressive. Yesterday, while feeding the wafer food, one of them already showing sign of slight aggressiveness. Well, if it really naughty, I will throw him into my brother's pond.![]()

To date, many of my endlers like to nibble on them once a while. I guess they have the same colour as the food I am feeding my other fishes. So far, no harm done.
For those have not seen this fish yet...please do as it is really cute.![]()

FYI, these are not "naturally occurring" fishes, if you get my drift. Having internal organs literally compressed into a shorter body isn't exactly my cup of tea.
Not trying to be a moral police, but just for general education, here is the naturally occurring fish as a comparison.

don't think it will grow big since it is dwarf and max i think maybe around 1.5". The normal ones can grow till about 3.5".
A lot of balloon version of fish these days.
