Recommendation for digicam?

brands such as Canon or Sony
budget $200-300...thanks

You might want to consider casio or panasonic as well... they do give quite good macro if you are thinking of shooting fish.
Can't remember the exact model though.

I have used the FZ series and was very happy with them. Budget wise its off yours though.
