    Ben,
Thanks, I always have a soft spot for large brood of fries

    Hanna,
Thanks. I use fast shutter speed to freeze their motion. Take plenty of shots and choose the better ones

Hmmm... okay my handphone camera doesn't have that function. Maybe I will try best shot or sports mode.

But your fries are cute!! Wonder if my fishies will give birth next time.

    Jason, stonespot,
    Thanks.
    hanna,
handphone a bit difficult lah. you need macro function to get close up.

    ck,
you can use the extreme macro lens to shoot fries, would love to see them really close up.

Nice nice. Btw just want to ask, once you have a breeding pair, do you need to separate the father/mother from each other once the fries are hatched?

    Cheers, Christophe

    Christophe,
No need to separate them, they will take care of the fries together.
Only time we need to separate them is when they start fighting for procession of the fries.

Congrats Richard. There seem to be no yolk sacs in these one-day old fry, is it true that discus fry immediately start to feed on their parents' body mucus instead of relying on yolk sacs for food?

Oops sorry... I don't think even my digicam has an "extreme macro" lens. But great shots you have there!

    Jason,
The fries will hatch after 3 days and will feed on yolk sac for another 3 days before free swimming. During the 2nd stage they will still be stuck to the breeding tile with their yolk sac. Once free swim they will feed on their parents mucus.
hanna, mine is just a macro lens. Not the extreme one........

    Savant, Thanks.

    Sanie,
Yes still keeping and breeding them.

Discus very tough. kudos to trident, who breed and share pictures with us. sometime the adults cannot 'tahan' the nibble by the fries and it is time to separate them and feed them heavy on bbs.
