you are right there, some times the parents cannot tahan, some will die, and some never really recover from the ordeal, will remain sickly. Just have to pay attention to them, once you see they are not right, remove them and like you mention, feed with bbs.
A good routine is to start bbs when the fries are about 5 days old and remove the parents when the fries are about 7-8 days old.

Thanks, I always enjoy watching the fries go for food, but they are a headache to look after. Daily water change and constant feeding. If they grow up nicely, than I am well rewarded.

Yeah used to keep Discus..all started when a friend gave me a pair and it mated in my community tank...Tried to find my pics in digital format..but think last time all my pictures in film type...will try to scan and post the pics...
