Continuous bubbling Effect ?

Hello everyone.....a newbie is born to ask some question.....forgive mi if my questions are stupid.....

I've been reading in this forum for some time, n really learn alot alot from here...I've recently setup my very own tank...n everything is doing quite good. however, i discover that my plants seems to bubble only during the late afternoon time. may i ask how to make them bubble more times in a day ?

i've bought my CO2 regulator from Teo's place...but err...i dunno wat the 2 meter are for ? mind i ask wat the 2 meters display ?

Hi there, the reason to bubbling is the saturation of O2, perharps u shld do a test for yr K level.. my plants bubbles less than 1/2hr after the lights goes on

for the regulator, one reads the pressure in PSI and the other shows how full the cylinder is

they bubble only in the afternoon because the plants need time before the water is so saturated with oxygen that bubbles emerge. Bubbling can of course be made earlier if BOTH CO2 and lighting is increased, but you run the risk of CO2 poisoning/pH crash and dead fish. Take your pick.

Lower fish load will enable plants to produce O2 bubbles faster as well.

My plant also bubbles only in the late afternoon. Hours after the lights turned on. I think it's because of the low light condition.

How much light are you using?

Plants bubble when the water is saturated with oxygen. In order to do that, you have to produce more oxygen. There a few ways to do that.

- Add more plants... more plants, more oxygen, saturation reached sooner.
- Make the plants photosynthesise more. At least 3W/Gal of light, enough CO2 (20-30ppm), enough nutrient (hard to quantify), dose potassium at 20-30 ppm once a week (can lead to some nutrient defiencies due to higher uptake by plants).

What are your tank details plus fertilisers, etc?

strong light helps a lot too
if you find you have a healthy tank that's growing but doesn't produce bubbles no matter what, it could be the lighting

wat's the K level and how do i go abt measuring it ?

for the regulator, 1 measure the pressure...as in the cyclinder pressure ? wat it means when it's deflected to the left or right ? for the part showing how full the cyclinder is, does it means it's full when it's deflected to the left...n empty when it's deflected to the right ?

using a 3FT x 2FT x 2FT tank..
2 packs of JBL ferterlizer as base...
2 1/2 packs of sand over the ferterlizer..
no fishes introduce yet as read somewhere in here as there's a need to 'cycle' the tank ? (correct mi if i'm wrong..)
for plants...i pick abt 6 diff types introduce by Teo...just plant them in for the 'cycling' phase ...
using EHEIM 2233 n 1 set of 36W 3FT lights (with 2 PL bulb inside..so i dunno if tat means 1 36W or 2 36W..) recommended by nature...

think Simon is refering to your kh. you will be able to determine the co2 concentration if you have ph and kh readings.

is there any numbers on the gauges? a full tank would be about 900+ psi or 69+ bar.

your tank is 85 gallons. your lighting is insufficient.

my left meter reads 1000 psi....the range is from 0 - 3500
the right meter reads 30 psi...range is from 0 - 140.

so i assume the left meter is how full my cyclinder is... n right side is the pressure of my cyclinder ? am i correct ?

as you increase more lights, you need to add fertilizer to complement the increase in lights. do search the forum for more info on fertilization.

ph measures how alkaline or acidic your tank water is while kh measures the carbonate hardness. you'll need to purchase test kits to perform these tests. determining co2 levels from ph/kh

the higher pressure reading is your co2 tank pressure while the lower pressure is your working pressure.
