    Bro Itsuki,

I am keeping some Java, Taiwanese moss in a 1ft tank without CO2. As long as the temperture is right with sufficient amount of lighting, it will grow fast. Oh, i used liquid fertilizers too.

    Hi Bro Itsuki,

I don't know the name of this moss that I keep... But I think it could be a good choice.... It grows relatively fast in my tank setup. I have no CO2, no fertilizer, just 8 hours of light a day. Temp is around 29-30 degreeC.

I believe if kept cooler and with CO2,... this moss may grow even better.

Can anyone enlighten me the name of this moss...??

It's not a moss at all, it's a fern gametophyte.

It goes by two common names - Süßwassertang (freshwater seaweed in German) and Round Pellia, which is very incorect common name.

It's scientific name is Lomariopsis lineata and it's been suggested that it's common name should be Loma Fern.

Wow, fern gametophyte looks interesting. Is it possible to tie it on a driftwood? Do it grow upwards or creep?

Süßwassertang will grow either longer or rounder shape in different condition. I personally experiment it before. Low light, temperature around 27-30C, it grow longer, another tank with high light and temperature around 25-27C, it grow rounder and greener.

Can refer to bro Victri's site:

Agree with bro sign also... some moss also grow differently in different water parameters based on my own experience (temperature of the water does make a great difference)...

In my views, Java moss, Spiky Moss are all quite easy & fast to grow...

    Cheers!
