Hi all can you help check what's wrong with my Flame Moss? There are black tips.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...a/PICT1180.jpg

So how can I grow them well? Else I'm switching to Java Moss if any easier for a newbie.

    Thank you.

ya the tips are black not sure why. only the last 1 week have I been keeping my water 25-26C. maybe the initial 27-28C could have created the "burn" marks? Ha!

anyway I will try trimming off the black tips.

cos from what i seen, normally the tips should be a brighter green than the body which means it is growing.

but the black tips don't look like they are dead too. strange.

Generally, Yes. They're known to withstand or rather are more tolerable to higher water temperature like say 30deg?
    Thanks & Regards,

ya according to lots of sources, Java Moss is the hardiest Moss.
If Java Moss also can't survive, no other moss will.

Agree it looks good! Thats the website i viewed yesterday after my harvest!

Anyway it is such a pain trying to wash away all the sand/mud stuck to the moss. I practically dunked it into a container, topped up some water, capped, shake like a bartender to try and rid of the sand/mud stuck to the moss.

Process repeat again and again till i deem the moss is clean.

Hmmmm thats how i do it, what about you? Couldn't find any source on the net
    Thanks & Regards,
    Trevor

I will remove the bottom layer and only use the top layer, let it settle for few weeks and try to change water every other day, i dont know what chemical may reside inside the moss. Try to get the cleanest and thick patch if possible.

They can be found everywhere in Singapore, they are locally natural bred here. Of course they are the best choice. Actually most of the moss are pretty easy to keep so long the water is in good condition, clean.

ok I have been wanting to ask someone about this for a long time.

Can you explain exactly what is good water condition for moss?

I think Cool Temp is Essential and Vital with sufficient Lighting is the KEY

Moss prefer clean water, or mature tank with clean water, good CO2, cool temp and good lighting. Below is the picture of my Singapore Moss and Mini Christmas Moss. Currently the Singapore Moss is using low light and more low maintenace condition as compare to my Mini Christmas Moss tank from my high lighting 2ft Otiwhite tank. With better condition you will achieve like my Mini Christmas Moss flourishing. Remember that under different condition, moss will grow differently, especially Singapore Moss.
