Anyone know where to get peat in big quantity? I tried nursery but all are peat moss which is almost in powder form.

We can get peat from forest, it comes with a bit of wood or powder form, depending on how aged the peat is.

we used to be able to get long strand sphagnum moss in our home building and garden supply stores. it was expensive, sold in small bags.
The regular cheaper sphagnum peat moss in bales is already slightly decomposed and ready for use.
The long strand sphagnum moss is whole stems, not broken down yet, and I hear it makes an excellent biological filter media after it breaks down.
