i dont use those expensive brands you mentioned. I use the jbj $120 solenoid valves. Good and reliable. Been using since april with no problem. Comes with needle valve for that 1 bubble per 2 sec adjustment![]()

have both jbj, german brand (can't remember what brand) and Taiwan brand. All are ok, no problem, been using since I start this hoby which is around 2 years ago. I heard that the Taiwan brand usually hotter, so I stick heat sink on it, never actually measure it though.
If you are worry of the solenoid getting very hot during operation. You could consider getting the UP brand. It will not be hot at all; not even warm. It uses only like 1 watts power. So far the coolest solenoid which I know.

Now that you mention it, I do not know how many watts are my solenoids
Thank you all! Does heat create a problem for the valve or the whole set up?
I have a Dupla Delta needle valve, do I put the solenoid over and top of it?
Will look at all the brands mentioned above, JBJ, UP and the unknown Taiwanese brand at Mrs. Toh's.
Thanks again!![]()

the solenoid valve is attached after the co2 regulator. and the needle valve is attached to the solenoid valve.

Hope this may helps...

Thanks AnA, (and Tawauboy) the diagram helps!Looking at the recent mails here on burnt and non functioning solenoids, I'm beginning to worry if picking up the JBJ is a good idea.
Branong: I'm going down to NA tomorrow and will inquire the stock and price for you.

you mean Kelantan Lane area? im not sure if that area carries these Pneumatic Equipments..by the way, what will happen if water gets into the solenoid valve? just curious
thanks.

Long ago, I am also hunting high and low for the solenoid. That time, it was pretty difficult to find. I am not sure if it is easier to get it nowadays. Anyway, I got it for $50 each previously.

Actually, I also got it from NA many years ago. The brand is Metalwork. It comes with solenoid and the solenoid valve. I think it should be able to get it from pneumatic shop if we hunt hard enough.
One thing to take note for the solenoid is that it rated 220v. Means, it mainly cater for main power of 220v. But, for out main power is 230v. My side here is 248v. Thus, it could be the reason the solenoid gets hotter. One way to lengthen the solenoid life span is to add a resistor to reduce the voltage to around 180v. This kind of solenoid still could serve the basic function at that voltage. This would lower the heat and thus increase the life span of the solenoid. As I am still using the UP's solenoid, I do not need to use this method. My brother do.
As for the UP's solenoid, I think we could not get it separately. It comes with the whole set. Anyone knows where could get the spare UP's solenoid I am keen to get one too. Thanks.
