Anyone keep this fish before? Is it a community fish which can reside with tetra and discus?

they are schooling fish, will only be a loner during breeding season. they are non aggressive and can be kept with a wide variety of fauna including shrimps.

very colorful fish during mating season but the female are pretty dull. able to withstand a wide variety of water parameters.

Well, actually, only juveniles are known to school. Adults practically live solitary lives, or at least do not school like juveniles.

Ideally, pH around 6.5 - 7.4, water temperature between 20 to 27 degrees Celcius.

Feed on small aquatic crustaceans, larval insects and algae in the wild. Will accept a wide range of staple and live food in the aquaria.

Usually found in still water or flowing streams, among abundant aquatic vegetation or branches of submerged trees.
