Cheap and effective way to clean tubes

Just want to share with you guys on a trick that I found to clean away the sluggish stuff in my tubing and rain bar fast and effectively.

equipments: Wire (bent from cloth hanger), toilet paper.

First, wet small amount of toilet paper and stuff into the dirty tube. Then use the wire to push in the wet toilet paper further.

Then connect one end of the dirty tube to your tap with tube.

On the tap and blast out the toilet paper.

Same method can be applied to rain bar but make sure the holes of the rain bar is fully covered.

that sound a simple and easy way for cleaning tube and rainbar. Sometime cleaning is a mass especially when it a canister. How long you clean one time for all the tube and rainbar? Guess sometime out of no choice, it better to throw away the old tube and buy a new one which dont really cost that much, maybe $2 for 1m. As for rainbar and utube, no choice, wash lor..

if for the tube only is less than 20 mins. As for the canister depends on the model .. for example for my eheim 2211, it took me almost 30 to 40 mins .. as for my eheim 2222, less than 15 mins ..

If you clean it once a month i think the stains are quite easy to be removed.

BTW i think the smallest tube that can be cleaned this way is something like the eheim rainbar dimension..

The easiest way I tried so far is using Clorox, just soak it for couple os hours.

err...what type of Clorox you use to clean your fish tank stuff , etc piping, tube, and rainbar..

All ... piping, tube, valve, hose, canister filter (not the media), diffuser, reactor, surface skimmer, tank (just wipe for this one ) and plants (some).

For me, I would just put cotton wool on the tube and on the tap to blast it. Quite a lot of the dirt was remove but can still tell that the tube is dirty inside.

Hmm..reminded me of the rifle cleaning kit

I used the same method as argomt. Should try the bleach method..seems faster

may not be faster because you need to wait until clorox bleach all the dirth inside the tube. Not to mention you need to soak it with anti clorine. so may not be the faster methot but the easiest (IMO).

Wonder whether you guys use 100% bleach solution or mix it with a portion of water?

mix of course, proportion wise, not sure I just simply pour

I felt that the using water method is the best(describe by leechaorui), but use green wool(that is use to wash dishes type) that is rolled into a roll, ensure that it tight enough to press against the tubing wall. Blast it a few times, if it is not clean in the first attempt...

Have not tried clorex, as I am afraid it may hardened the tubing after bleached...
